well, the cinderella story continues for the baltimore orioles who took down the texas rangers last night by a final score of 5-1. >> this is so exciting. and the win was definitely a team effort. we're going to begin our team coverage with a look at the highlights from jerry sandusky. >> orioles magic extends now to the american league division series. the orioles win the first ever american league wild card game as they knock off the texas rangers last night 5-1 at the rangers ball park in arlington. buck showalter saw his team deliver with tremendous poise. first inning, j. j. hardy with the rbi single. the o's have the first lead in the first ever american league wild card game. third inning, pitching duel emerging. joe saunders 5 1/3, only gave up one run. struck out josh hamilton.

5:05 am
tonight it was just about, hey, giving as much as you can for as long as you can and hopefully we can get a few runs against a quality club. >> joe was great today. anything that happened tonight, the key starts with joe. i felt, if we could get his feet on the ground the first inning, stay away from big innings, he could slow them down. >> joe was a beast. lot of guys were batting in this park. tough place to pitch especially against this lineup. >> so joe saunders got the job done in tremendous fashion. the bull pen followed up as it is known to do. sure, jim johnson made it interesting in the ninth. save 52 on the season. he'll take it however it comes. next up, jason hamilton. he was fresh and ready to go. certainly saw him bouncing around. looked awfully fresh in the post game celebration. so we'll see if jason hamills ready to go game one against the yankees. i'm pete gilbert for wbal tv 11
